Scientists from the National Institutes of Health announced that omega-3 fatty acids are important to eye health based on studies going back twenty years.

Omega-3s are used to make important antioxidants which is beneficial because the delicate retina is particularly prone to free radical damage. The best defense against free radicals in our bodies is antioxidants.

Omega-3 consumption has many benefits; below are just a few:

  • Fight depression and anxiety
  • Improved eye health
  • Improve risk factors of heart disease
  • Fight inflammation
  • Fight autoimmune diseases
  • Fight age related mental decline
  • Help prevent cancer

How can we get more Omega-3s in our diets?  Fatty fish such as salmon, cod, and mackerel.  They can also be found in algae, which is not only vegetarian, it’s also a sustainable source of Omega-3s.
