Why is everyone talking about Magnesium?

Every organ in your body requires Magnesium.  Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in your body. Your body can’t work properly without it!

It is essential for hundreds of metabolic processes and many other important bodily functions, from producing energy to building important proteins. Even though your body can’t work properly without it, many are deficient.  Studies show that 20% of the general population are deficient and 75% of us are simply not getting enough.  The reason for this is partly due to modern farming practices and depletion of nutrients in the soil.  High consumption of magnesium-depleting foods including processed foods and soft drinks is another contributor. Many commonly used medications also deplete the body of magnesium including birth control pills, blood pressure pills, diuretics, and cholesterol-lowering medications.

The impacts of not getting enough Magnesium may include increased moodiness, sleeplessness, muscle cramps, fatigue, and headache.  Magnesium deficiency may play a role in the development of health conditions, such as: type 2 diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease.  If you have pre-existing medical conditions or concerns about how much magnesium you are getting it is best to contact a doctor for advice.

To boost magnesium through your diet, make sure to eat plenty of leafy green vegetables like spinach or kale, nuts and seeds like almonds or pumpkin seeds (I like to make my own granola with both), fatty fish like tuna, avocado, dark chocolate, low fat Greek yogurt, and brown rice.

Our commitment to clean, healthy skincare led us to make our Magnesium Butter formulas. Our formulas start with Magnesium Chloride which is a compound found abundantly in sea water.  We add Vitamin D3 (the sunshine vitamin).  Approximately 50% of the population are Vitamin D deficient.  Magnesium is essential for the absorption of vitamin D, so it made sense to combine them in our body butter.   Turmeric and Arnica are added for their anti- inflammatory and calming benefits. Our tiple butter combination of Shea, Cocoa, and Mango butters are the skin hydrating delivery mechanism along with the combination of Organic Sunflower Seed Oil + Grape Seed Oil + Sweet Almond oils, aloe, and vitamin C from orange fruit extract.   The result is bio-available Magnesium and Vitamin D3 in an easy to apply, filler free, economical package. And, always made in small batches in Georgia and we NEVER test on animals.

For best results rub into cramp-prone areas, chest and pulse points (e.g. on the inside of the wrists) and under the arms (straight into the lymphatic system) in the morning.  And, to lower stress levels and promote a good night’s sleep, rub into the bottom of your feet and backs of the legs before bed.
